Probes and Rations!!


Felicitations, fellow humans!  This update addresses a few of the issues I've been meaning to fix, as mentioned in my Plans!! Update! Such changes include;

  • The Probe Fob! This new key item can be used in your inventory to determine how many probes are in your current level! It's fairly bare bones at the moment, but it's a step up for sure. This will definitely be improved and expanded upon in the next chapter, which I'm aiming to make less restrictive in an exploratory sense (being able to go back to certain levels, for instance!)
  • Rations! These now apply a MaxHP buff for a short time, so you have some more wiggle room with conversations (they also fully heal still, which will likely come into play later). You can stack the buff twice for some real chonky hp gains, but I've also made it so that the snack dispenser only gives you two at a time, and it will not give you any more until you've used the ones you already have. Snack responsibly! (This one is definitely in need of some playtesting. I think that having two per level is good enough, but I'm definitely open to allowing more)
  • Director Sprites! She's now large and in charge, a real pig among guinea pigs. Might make the other agents larger too, who knows! Not me!
  • Art fixes! Very minor, but they bothered me so they had to be eliminated.
  • Might add a mobile (maybe a mac port too?) here in the next couple days! I may have them up before the end of the weekend!
    Okay so as it turns out, you kind of need a Mac to deploy a Mac version of the game. It would seem I also need a program to properly deploy a mobile version as well. There are ways around these setbacks, certainly, but if I'm going to be updating and uploading versions of the game relatively frequently (ESPECIALLY in the case of bugfixes and minor changes) I think it would be best if I put this idea on the back burner for until I have a more finished product. I really don't want to juggle three different downloads at the moment lol. That being the case, I think I'll be adding a browser version by the end of the week! Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up!

Ooh, the promise of a Mac port is exciting, means I won't have to run the game via WINE anymore

(This was my workaround before I bought the Mac version of RPGMaker MV.)

If you have a known working Mac version of any other MV game, you can replace the assets in the app.nw folder (Mac) with the assets from the www folder (BS9).

Neat! I'll definitely keep that in mind for games that WINE doesn't want to run, for one reason or another.
